Mike McCue of Flipboard confirmed rumors from earlier today of them raising a massive $50M round to fuel their application development. If you’re not familiar with Flipboard, it’s a cool app for building curated social magazines on specific topics. Flipboard was one of the first companies to pioneer the tablet-first magazine design with highly visual magazines.

- Build a Windows 8 app and make an entrance into desktops.
- Build internationalized versions of FlipBoard.
- Push adoption of FlipBoard by big consumer brands such as Louis Vitton.
- Secure licensed content deals with paid publishers.
